"MAN / UP" (MU4J) Men's Fellowship Breakfasts
"MAN / UP" a Man's, weekly Breakfast Bible Fellowship, got off the ground in the winter of 2006, at a Tyler's taste of Texas Restaurant.
The 7am, Monday morning men's breakfast fellowship has men attending from all over the western United States, and Canada, who came to Yuma for the winter.
We average 13-15 each week and saw a high of over 30, on the days we had special speakers, or programs. Several denominational and non-denominational backgrounds were represented
"The Chief" a Cree, Native Canadian rodeo cowboy chaplain, brought several weeks of great guitar playing for our weekly singing of some of the great old choruses and hymns.
Dean Schlosser, GGF, President, brings the weekly devotional. We pray for these guys for the summer months, and look forward to next fall. 2010 Kickoff date is November 8th and meeting this year at the Foothills Mi Fajita Rrestaurant on Foothills Blvd
A similar group got off the ground this past summer months in the Show Low area and will crank up again in June 12.
Church Men Reality Check...
A recent article in a Christian Men's magazine caught my attention, specifically because it dealt with men of the church. As a founder and director of a laymens Breakfast Ministry, I thought it relevant and timely to make available what I read...
"For every 10 men in your church...
* Nine will have kids that leave the church (GO! Magazine, North American Mission Board, February 12, 2004)
* Eight will not find their jobs very satisfying (Finding a Job You Can Love , Mattson & Miller, Thomas Nelson Publishing, 1982 )
* Six Pay the monthly minimum on their credit card balances (Crown Financial Ministries, 2004 seminar)
* Five have a major problem with pornography (Family Safe Media, Feb 2004)
* Four will get divorced, affecting 1 million children per year (according to the 2003 findings of the American Academy of Pediatrics Task Force on the Family)
* Only one in the ten, has a Biblical worldview (Barna Research Group, December 2003)
* All 10 will struggle to balance work and family (Patrick Morley, Man in the Mirror Ministries, 2004)
Guys walk into the church with smiles on their faces, but carrying with them big burdens. And we're trying to carry them alone. But even the broadest shoulders get weary. Ask a guy "How he's doing", and don't be content with an answer of "fine." Men not only need God, we also need each other!"
* Stand Firm, Lifeway Ministries.

WHAT'S YOUR CHOICE SON?
My Mother had a great way of getting me to decide whether a thing was right for me or not!
At the time the big decision I had to make was whether to attend a wednesday nite school sock hop, or go to church choir practice. Choir practice won!
The question she would toss out to me was this. "Would you want to be doing the thing, or attending the thing when Jesus Christ returned? It always got me! dws
Travel, Camping 4 Wheelin and RV'ing
Many from the "Hi-5"ers group enjoy and belong to the "OLD COGGERS CRUISERS Club" and enjoy bi-weekly group trips out in the desert in and around Yuma AZ.
In 2008 we took several trips down to the border fence, picnicked on a Border Patrol Emergency beacon and set it off...
We also visited some old petroglyph ruins at Painted Rock, and visited the fossil beds down near El Centro CA
A picture page will be forthcoming in late 08

DO YOU LIKE TO GO "4-WHEELIN" IN THE DESERT?
Then if you come down to the Yuma Foothills in the winter months
you would enjoy the company of a fun Christian group of 4 wheelers
who call themselves the OLD CODGERS CRUISERS. The 4 wheel group of "Codgers" heads out to the desert and mountains every 2 weeks or so, to a fun destination or historic spot. In 2007-08 we went out to the MX border fence, ghost towns, old mines, ancient fossil beds, petroglyphs, and unique desert locations. For pictures of some of our trips, contact dean at firstname.lastname@example.org

ARE YOU HAVING THE MORNING BLAAAAAAHS??
Get up go outside as the sun is rising, and talk to God in the cool of the day!
I do and it sets the tone for my day...
I go out fior a cup of coffee, talk to the Lord, and come home with my dogs, Missy and Bear and sing, with them howling at my singing...
I sing... "This is the day, this is the day that the Lord hath made, that the Lord hath made... I will rejoice, I will rejoice and be glad in it, and be glad in it! This is the day, that the Lord hath made, I will rejoice, and be glad in it...
This is the day that the Lord hath made.
Try it... It'll make a difference. dws
