"MAN / UP" a Man's, weekly Breakfast Bible Fellowship, got off the ground in the winter of 2006, at a Tyler's taste of Texas Restaurant. The 7am, Monday morning men's breakfast fellowship has men attending from all over the western United States, and Canada, who came to Yuma for the winter. We average 13-15 each week and saw a high of over 30, on the days we had special speakers, or programs. Several denominational and non-denominational backgrounds were represented "The Chief" a Cree, Native Canadian rodeo cowboy chaplain, brought several weeks of great guitar playing for our weekly singing of some of the great old choruses and hymns. Dean Schlosser, GGF, President, brings the weekly devotional. We pray for these guys for the summer months, and look forward to next fall.  2010 Kickoff date is November 8th  and meeting this year at the Foothills Mi Fajita Rrestaurant on Foothills Blvd A similar group got off the ground this past summer months in the Show Low area and will crank up again in June 12.

A recent article in a Christian Men's magazine caught my attention, specifically because it dealt with men of the church. As a founder and director of a laymens Breakfast Ministry, I thought it relevant and timely to make available what I read...

"For every 10 men in your church...

* Five have a major problem with pornography (Family Safe Media, Feb 2004)

* Four will get divorced, affecting 1 million children per year (according to the 2003 findings of the American Academy of Pediatrics Task Force on the Family)

* Only one in the ten, has a Biblical worldview (Barna Research Group, December 2003)

* All 10 will struggle to balance work and family (Patrick Morley, Man in the Mirror Ministries, 2004)

Guys walk into the church with smiles on their faces, but carrying with them big burdens. And we're trying to carry them alone. But even the broadest shoulders get weary. Ask a guy "How he's doing", and don't be content with an answer of "fine." Men not only need God, we also need each other!"
